Kibbutz Sa'ad was established on June 30th, 1947 by a group of true pioneers whose dream was to start a kibbutz which would embody values of Torah and work (Torah Va'Avodah). Through hard work, dedication and futuristic vision these founders turned the dream into reality: Kibbutz Sa'ad is now a blooming, prosperous community in the Northern Negev region just south of Ashkelon.
Here at Saad you will find a Modern Orthodox community which owns and runs a variety of agricultural and industrial endeavors within a rich cultural and social surrounding.
Torah observance guides our community. We have a large, beautiful synagogue and Beit Midrash complete with religious library, which function as our spiritual center with daily and weekly Shiurim given by our Rabbi and kibbutz members. Sa'ad's Tefillot are well-known for their beautiful melodies and active participation by people of all ages, especially on Yom Tovim and the High Holidays.
Each Rosh Hodesh an additional "Carlebach-style" minyan is held, and an active women minyan.
One of the main values expressed by Sa'ad's community is that of contributing to Israeli society. Our kibbutz hosts and runs unique educational programs such as a Chevrat Noar including Bagrut preparation (for high school age youth needing an improved social & educational environment), a Foster Home program for young children, and Tzabar, a group of youg men and women from foreign countries serving in the Israely Army.

Education
Sa'ad's educational framework begins with comprehensive childcare from infancy through pre-school and kindergarten. The professional childcare staff ensures a top-level educational program in a loving, safe atmosphere complete with fresh air and wide open spaces.
The "Da'at" religious public school located on Kibbutz Sa'ad is a regional elementary school for grades 1-9. Our curriculum includes 41 weekly study hours during which special attention is geared towards achievement and development according to each individual child's abilities and interests.
After-school hours and vacation days are filled with supervised informal educational programs including a wide variety of activities & workshops in Jewish Studies, sports, music, hiking, and more.
Our Youth Library is well-stocked and equipped with computer & internet hookups, and staffed by professional librarians who oversee the children's reading and computer activities. The library is a favorite "hang-out" where our young people of all ages come not only to borrow books, but to sit and read, or attend "story-hour". The library is open daily and is also used on Shabbat afternoons for quiet reading.
Saad's Petting Zoo is a favorite visiting spot for all ages. This Nature Learning Center is run by school age children under the teaching & supervision of our professional animal caretaker, whose specialties include giving individual attention and responsibility to children with various learning and behavioral challenges.
In close proximity to Kibbutz Sa'ad there are several institutions of higher learning, including the Sapir Sha'ar-Hanegev College (10 minutes away), the Ashkelon College affiliated with Bar-Ilan University (25 minutes away), and Ben-Gurion University of Beersheva (30 minutes away).

Community
Sa'ad's multi-generational community is characterized by dedication to helping others, by its variety of talent and personalities, and ideological pluralism.
Sa'ad members have opportunities to achieve personal goals while contributing to community.
The general atmosphere is pleasant and peaceful and reflects the safe, beautiful surroundings in which we live.

Health
A modern, fully equipped medical clinic (Maccabi) is open to Sa'ad's community and Kupat Holim Maccabi members. The clinic offers care by our GP and nursing staff including all lab tests, OB-GYN, maternity and infant nursing care, pediatrician, a dental clinic and dental hygienist, physical therapy, and more.

Culture
Year-round and seasonal programs open to Sa'ad members and residents include workshops and lectures in subjects such as philosophy, computers, gourmet cooking, ceramics, and more. Subscription tickets are available for concerts and plays in the area (Dorot, Eshkol). Movies and restaurants are close by in Sderot, Netivot (10 minutes), Ashkelon, and Beersheva (30 minutes).

Employment
The kibbutz offers many places of work, from modern agriculture (orchards, field crops, computerized irrigation) to animals (dairy farm, chicken farm) to industry (plastic film extrusion). Many different jobs are available at high technological levels and in management positions.
Other jobs include kitchen and catering service, education, childcare, health care, electric dept., woodworking & carpentry, fashion design and manufacture, and more. Marketing & sales personnel are also employed by the various Kibbutz Sa'ad companies.
Members choose to work on or off the kibbutz in their career of choice.
Kibbutz Sa'ad is located at convenient commuting distance from such industries such as Intel, Elta, Dead Sea Works, and educational institutions such as Ben Gurion University and the Shaar Hanegev College, as well as medical centers such as Beersheva, Ashkelon, and more.

Conditions of Acceptance
Membership candidates for Kibbutz Sa'ad are aged 40 or under, Modern Orthodox, high school graduates (preferably college graduates), have completed army or national service (if Israeli), have a clean bill of health, proven employment skills, and would like to contribute to the economic, educational, and/or social atmosphere of a community.
Candidates for membership participate in an interview, a professional evaluation (psychotechnical/graphological), and medical examination. Certification regarding financial status and children's evaluations are also included in membership applications.
Following positive results of the above, and payment of the application fees, candidates join the kibbutz as "guests" for a year of mutual evaluation which gives both candidates and kibbutz members a chance to see whether your family is right for our kibbutz, and whether our kibbutz is right for you.
At the end of the year, the candidates may ask to be voted in as members, and if they are, they become fully responsible partners and shareholders in the kibbutz holdings, companies, and community.
If you are looking to belong to a community with a wealth of values and quality of life, Kibbutz Sa'ad may be the place you are looking for.
